Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) before coming to Conceive

In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an assisted reproductive treatment where after ovarian stimulation with medications, eggs are collected from the ovaries and then fertilized with sperm in a laboratory. The resulting embryo is grown and then transferred into the uterus to achieve a pregnancy.

IVF treatment in the UAE is legally permitted only for married, heterosexual couples with a valid marriage certificate. Treatment is provided using the couple’s own eggs and sperm only, as per UAE law.

Before IVF, both partners usually undergo: – Blood tests (hormonal and infectious disease screening) – Ultrasound scans for the female partner – Semen analysis for the male partner – Genetic or other tests if medically indicated.

One IVF cycle usually takes 4–6 weeks. This includes preparation, stimulation process, surgical procedures, and pregnancy testing.

IVF treatment typically includes: 

  • Ovarian stimulation with medications
  • Monitoring with blood tests and ultrasound
  • Egg retrieval procedure
  • Fertilization in the laboratory
  • Embryo development and monitoring
  • Embryo transfer into the uterus
  • Pregnancy test after 7-9 days.

Yes. Partial treatment can be done in your home country in liaison with the Conceive Hospital Team. Primarily this would be ovarian stimulation through medication. in your home country while coordinating with one of our hospital’s physicians, followed by a visit to the UAE for your procedures.

You will first be asked to fill out a complete history form as well as provide us with any previous medical results. Based on these forms, our physicians will determine if you may begin treatment immediately in your home country or if you need to visit us before starting an IVF cycle. Once we determine if you may begin treatment in your home country, you should find a clinic locally who can assist you with the needed blood tests and ultrasound scans.

Plan to stay in UAE for 7-10 days for egg retrieval & embryo transfer procedures. Both partners must be present for the procedures.

IVF treatment may involve mild discomfort. Egg retrieval is performed under sedation to ensure patient comfort. Embryo transfer is usually painless.

IVF success rates depend on factors such as:
– Age of the female partner
– Cause of infertility
– Embryo quality
– Overall health

Your doctor will explain your individual chances based on medical evaluation. No pregnancy can be guaranteed.

Yes. Cryopreservation (freezing) of eggs is allowed only with written consent and within the limits set by UAE law.

No. The use of donor sperm, donor eggs and donor embryos, and is not permitted in the UAE under current laws.

Maximum of two embryos per surgical transfer are allowed. The number of embryos transferred is decided by the treating physician based on UAE regulations, patient age, embryo quality, and medical safety to minimize risks such as multiples pregnancy.

Yes. Cryopreservation (freezing) of embryos is allowed strictly with written consent from both spouses and within the limits set by UAE law. Embryos can only be used by the same married couple.

According to UAE regulations:
– Embryos cannot be used after divorce or death of either spouse
– Embryos will be discarded if consent is withdrawn or the legal storage period ends

Patients must sign informed consent forms covering these situations.

PGT may be allowed only for medical indications such as detecting genetic disorders. It is permitted under specific regulatory oversight as per UAE regulations.



It is permitted for family balancing and when medically indicated to prevent genetic diseases.

IVF is generally safe but may include risks such as:
– Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS)
– Multiples pregnancy
– Procedure related discomfort or complications in rare cases

Your doctor will explain all risks before treatment.

IVF medications are approved and prescribed according to international standards and UAE regulations. Side effects are usually temporary and will be discussed before treatment.

Yes. Patient confidentiality and data privacy are strictly maintained according to UAE health data protection laws.

Patients are advised to:
– Avoid smoking, alcohol, and recreational drugs
– Maintain a healthy diet and weight
– Reduce stress
– Follow medical instructions carefully

IVF costs vary depending on medical needs, medications and additional procedures. A detailed cost estimate will be provided before treatment begins.

Add-ons like ICSI, genetic testing, embryo freezing  will be billed additionally.

Most insurance plans in the UAE do not routinely cover IVF. Coverage, if any, depends on the individual insurance policy.

Yes, international patients will need a UAE visit visa. To be arranged by the patient.
